I just spent the last week in Jamaica. What a trip. Normally, I camp or stay with friends when I go on holiday. I've never been to an all inclusive resort before. I went with my good friend Peg, her daughter Liz, and Liz's husband Garrett. We stayed at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, outside Montego Bay. Liz and Garrett were celebrating their 10 year anniversary.
We spent most of our time at the resort, but did do two excursions. The first was to ride a catamaran west to go snorkelling at Negril beach and then go to Rick's Cafe. Snorkelling was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. It was like being in the movie Finding Nemo. I oooo'ed and ahhh'ed right through my snorkel. Rick's Cafe was cool, as was the cliff jumping there, but it was very touristy, and very expensive. Not a huge fan.
The other day we spent away from the resort, we did a Jamaican tour, guided by Raymond Fairclough of Raymond One Love Tours and Taxi. What a great day!! Raymond took us to small things like Usain Bolt's high school where we saw the field he trained on, he drove us up the Fern Gully road, we stopped at a few road side stands where locals where selling various items, and he took us to the Blue Hole. Email me if you want to know any other things we did that day, and I'll help you out mon.
While at the resort we met many people from all over North America. Larin and Andy are from Cincinnati, and I went with them to a local restaurant called Scotchie's. For $7.91 US, I got a quarter chicken white, 2 traditional fry breads, and a Red Stripe. Local, and amazing! They cook over sweet wood, and it tastes amazing!!
It was an amazing trip, the people were friendly and kind, and I can't wait to go back!
